Kismayo – The Jubbaland State administration has declared its readiness to defend itself against what it describes as an offensive by the Federal Government of Somalia in the Gedo region.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, Jubbaland condemned recent clashes in the district of Beled-Hawo and surrounding areas, accusing federal forces of launching an attack on the region.
“We are prepared to counter any attempts aimed at dismantling Jubbaland, and we will defend ourselves,” the statement read.
The remarks come shortly after forces loyal to the Jubbaland administration were expelled from Beled-Hawo and its surrounding localities.
The Federal Government has previously called on Jubbaland’s forces in Gedo to surrender, assuring them that their safety and security would be guaranteed.
