The African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia has distributed food assistance to 100 vulnerable families affected by ongoing drought conditions in the city of Baidoa.

According to officials, the aid package included essential food items aimed at alleviating the humanitarian impact of prolonged dry spells that have severely affected livelihoods in the region.

However, the initiative has drawn criticism from sections of the public, with some questioning the adequacy of the assistance and describing it as a “shame” for the government, arguing that greater responsibility should be taken in addressing the worsening humanitarian situation.
