The Somali Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Hodan Osman Abdi, today presented his credentials to the Director-General of Protocol at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miyashita Tadayuki.
Hodan, who is not resident in Japan, will work in both the Somali and Japanese Embassies. She met with the Director from whom she received her credentials and shared her work activities in the country.
The Somali Ambassador to China and Japan, Hodan Osman, indicated that she is focused on strengthening relations between the Mogadishu & Tokyo governments, and expressed her hope that the relations between the two countries will strengthen.
Japan is at the forefront of countries that supported Somalia’s independence from the Italian colonialists who occupied the south and the British who occupied the north, and Tokyo has implemented many projects in support of Somalia.
The last Somali ambassador to Japan to serve as a full representative was Hassan Abshir Farah in 1987, For Somalia, long defined in international media by conflict and crisis, today’s development adds weight to a new narrative: a nation re-engaging with the world on its own terms, with eyes firmly set on stability, growth, and global partnership
